Nestled on the water in Bristol, RI, Glen Manor House provides a beautiful old world feel for weddings right in New England. I was a US History teacher for ten years before I left the classroom. became a full tie wedding photographer. And I still love history and adore a venue with character and history of its own. Glen Manor House offers exactly that, along with being a beautiful chateau inside and out!

The family who built the house made its wealth in the Gilded Age. Theybought the land and some buildings that were originally on the site of the area known as “The Glen”. They raised cows on the land and it became Glen Farm. Then the family had the house we know today built in the 1920s. And it’s nestled on grounds that run right up to the water.

Amethyst and Zev were married on a very rainy day in May 2018 and the rain just made the whole place feel extra romantic and special.

1) The House Is Steeped In History

The French chateau inspired architecture, and early 20th century decor provide a link to the past. Large paintings and tapestries commissioned or owned by the family who used to summer at Glen Manor still hang on the walls and the grand scale of the house is made more intimate by pieces that remind you that this was once a family home.

2) Bright & Airy Bridal Suite

Getting ready photos are some of my favorite from a wedding day. The emotions that shine through as the bride puts on her dress with the help of her closest family and friends are lovely to witness. And the getting ready room plays a big role in how those images will turn out. So I love that Glen Manor House offers a light bright beautiful bridal suite big enough for all of your girls to get ready in, complete with ornate vintage furniture, giant windows, and two large mirrors.

3) A Beautiful Rainy Ceremony Option

With New England weather being unpredictable and often less than ideal, it’s essential to have a rain plan for your outdoor ceremony that you truly love. Glen Manor has a large covered terrace that makes for a beautiful rain plan for your ceremony and allows you to still feel outdoors and welcome lots of natural light, while keeping guests dry and warm.

4) A Diverse Set of Photo Ops – Right On Site

The gorgeous grounds and dock with water views are awesome for photos! But there is also a large beautiful covered portico that’s perfect for photos in soft natural light, no matter if your day is sunny or rain soaked! This happened to be a cold and rainy day so we stayed close to the cover of the house for most of the photos, but on sunny days the gardens add even more great options.
