Intimate Coastal Wedding Inspiration - Gloucester, MA

Lynne Reznick

Coastal Styled Shoot Lynne-0129.jpg

Early this Spring I got together with another photographer and an event coordinator to dream up this coastal inspired styled shoot. We wanted it to be classic coastal with a subtle twist and to have an intimate feel. We were thinking of a couple eloping with a handful of close family and friends as their guests. And we wanted a slightly more dramatic setting so we headed north to the rocky beaches of of the North Shore. We ended absolutely falling in love with the semi-secluded feeling of Half Moon Beach in Gloucester! The sunken beach and the rocky coast enclosure were the perfect backdrop for creating n intimate, yet dramatically styled elopement. The stone steps built right into the rock-side were one of my favorite features of this beach too - allowing us to tell a natural story of bride and groom descending onto the beach for their ceremony and a beautiful dinner with their loved ones.

When it came to styling the details, we intentionally decided on a tropical print featuring large palm leaves (the twist!). But we chose it in that quintessential New England color palette of Navy and cream. The oversized bouquet and dramatic florals above the tablescape were designed to create movement and give a nod to the neighboring ocean view. And they served as major statement pieces. The florals over the table were full of hydrangea - a classic New England floral, but the overhead display with flowers and greens dripping down provided a bit of elegant flair. The tablescape included the modern use of plexiglass for the table number, mixed with rustic coastal elements like the farm table and shells as place cards. The carefully selected bubble-like glass charger plates and curved flatware each also contributed to the coastal elements incorporated into the tablescape. We wanted everything to feel like it was a natural choice that reminded you of the curve of the coastline and the flow of the ocean.

Vintage door frames created a simple, rustic scene for our ceremony that allowed for the ocean to truly be the star. Similarly, the use of the vintage chair tied the old into this modern take on a beachfront wedding. And with a theme so much built on love and romance, the inclusion of vow books was important because the couple would definitely write and share their own vows.

Oh, and my brother and sister-in-law were our models. How fun is that?! They did an amazing job! XO

Marissa & Michael - Scituate Lighthouse Engagement

Lynne Reznick

Marissa & Michael danced and snuggled and held hands and nuzzled into one another during the end of an incredibly lovely day. They picked the Scituate Lighthouse as the spot for their session becuase it is beautiful, but also because it was a place Michael grew up going to and is now a place special for both of them. I love how sweet they are to each other and how they aren't afraid to get a little goofy, to laugh, and to smile really big. Cheers to you two! XO

Andrea & Scotty - Little Compton, RI Engagement

Lynne Reznick

Andrea and Scotty are so into each other. You can feel how much they love each just being near them. And once they started snuggling their expressions changed completely as they focused on each other and I'm pretty sure they almost forgot all about me!

Andrea & Scotty-0015.jpg

We met in Little Compton, RI for their engagement session and my jaw dropped at what a beautiful place it was. The rocky beach, the craggy hillside, the grasses and beach greenery, the sunset - it was stunning. But what really made the place the best spot for their session was how special it was to Scotty. He spent his summers growing  up going to that very beach with his family. When he was little, he played along the shoreline with his siblings while his father fished, and as he got older, he spent his time fishing alongside his dad. He recently remembered the spot and brought Andrea and their son Connor there for the first time. And now they are looking forward to summer evenings as a family on the very same beach and giving Connor the same lovely memories that Scotty has from his childhood.

The spot was beautiful anyway, but the fact that it is a place so special to them is what really made it the perfect choice. As you decide where to have your portraits or engagement photos taken, the best locations are the ones the most meaningful to you. You won't just look back at those images and think about the hour or two you spent there with your photographer, you'll look at them and remember your first kiss, your childhood, your first date, your life together.

Andrea and Scotty I had a wonderful time witnessing the love you have for each other and that you share for Connor. I am so looking forward to your wedding next year!
