Can you hold the date for us?
Dates are only reserved with the signing of the contact and payment of the retainer fee. However, if we have met and you are still in the process of making a decision, I will never give your date away without reaching back out to you to let you know I have another couple interested and to give you a chance to decide before I give the date away.
What is your payment schedule?
Your collection total, including any applicable taxes, is split into three payments. The first is a retainer fee due upon signing your contract with me, the second is due six months prior to your wedding, and the final payment is due one month prior to your wedding.
Do you take Credit Cards?
Do you have insurance?
I do and I’m happy to provide proof of insurance to your venue if needed.
Do you offer engagement sessions?
Yes I do and I LOVE them! I also think they’re important, so a complimentary engagement session is included in all of my complete wedding collections. Engagement sessions are wonderful because we get to know each other better, the mystery of what it’s like to be photographed is solved, and you two can get comfortable in front of the camera as I help you relax and pose naturally. So by the time your wedding rolls around, you two will be pros! Not to mention that we‘ll choose a spot that is special for the two of you and capture gorgeous photos of you head-over-heels in love with each other. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Do you provide videography as well?
I specialize in photography and do not offer videography. But I’m happy to work together with a videographer to capture your wedding day and I have worked with some especially talented videographers over the years and I’ll share my favorites with you if you’d like.
Should we provide you with a “shot list” or “must take” photos?
I will work with you to develop a complete list of all the family portrait combinations you know you want to get. Similarly, if there are particularly special, unique, or sentimental elements planned for your day I would love to know about them ahead of time so I can make sure to be ready for them. Otherwise, I will capture your love story as it unfolds and by you granting me the freedom to tell your story as I see it, you’ll end up with much more genuine images. I will focus on the authentic moments, the joyful displays of love, and the classic elements and details of your day. If you hire me, it should be because you feel 100% secure in my creativity and professionalism.
Do you charge travel fees?
I launched my business in Hartford and then moved to Boston. I love to travel and shoot in beautiful venues all over New England and I currently do not charge travel fees for New England weddings. I’m more than happy to venture beyond New England as well, and in that case I do charge a travel fee that is adjusted on a case-by-case basis and allows me to cover the cost of my journey as necessary to best capture your wedding. I do not charge a set fee because I am NOT trying to make money off of the travel, instead your travel fee will be calculated based on my actual expenses for travel to your wedding locale.
Do you work with a second photographer?
Always. I believe that the real love story is often found in the small moments and the moments in between. And having a second photographer along with me for the day allows me to get two perspectives n the big moments, as well as capture more of those small moments that tell your full love story. All of the second photographers I work with have their own businesses as well and are talented professionals.
Do you do destination weddings?
OMG yes please! I adore traveling, and when you combine travel with photographing the beautiful love story of a ridiculously in love couple, it just doesn’t get any better than that for me. In fact, I love traveling for wedding so much that each year I photograph one couple’s destination wedding for FREE. I do not charge a penny for my services or for the full gallery of hi-resolution images. All you have to do is get me to your wedding and put me up in your hotel for a couple of nights so I can be on hand for all of the festivities. I generally cover the rehearsal dinner and send-off brunch the day after as well. Sometimes my husband comes along as my second photographer and if he does, his travel expenses are on me, and you end up with even more amazing images. If you are interested in this option reach out through my page; I still have availability for one 2017 and one 2018 couple.
How much time do you need us to reserve for portraits on our wedding day?
Ideally, I love to have 90 minutes to two hours total. This includes time for family portraits, bridal party portraits, and couple’s portraits. But the time doesn’t have to fall in one large chunk, many couples choose to have a first look before the ceremony to take some photos together and then do family portraits after the ceremony. Some couples choose to do separate photos, for example the bride with her bridesmaids in one location and the groom with his groomsmen in another, before the ceremony and then the rest after. I will work closely with you or your wedding planner to create a timeline tailored to your needs because it is YOUR day! And of course, if things run late and we only have 20 minutes – I will still deliver you beautiful portraits.
What camera and gear do you bring with you?
I’m a Nikon girl all the way! My main camera body is the D4S. I also bring along a D700 as a backup camera in case of emergency. And I always show up with a variety of prime and zoom lenses, flashes, and a light stand and umbrella to ensure all of your images are beautifully lit. I like to be prepared for every scenario and backup gear is a must so I always travel with backup batteries, lenses, flashes, memory cards – you name it.
Do you take posed family portraits?
Absolutely, I do! One of the most important and special parts of your wedding day is having all of your loved ones in one place, looking their very best, and exuding joy over your marriage. I will work with you prior to the wedding day to create a detailed and complete list of family portrait combinations you would like me to capture and I’ll bring the list with me on your wedding day. Then usually right after your ceremony, we’ll take all of your family portraits and my second photographer will be in charge of the list. So you’ll KNOW you got every important family combo you wanted and you won’t have to think about it or worry about it at all on your wedding day. You can just pull your family members close, smile, and enjoy being basking in their love and joy for you.
If we’re running late, will you stay later than originally scheduled?
Absolutely, I will! All you need to do is ask. You can literally decide that you’d like me to stay for one more hour as I’m packing up to leave and I’ll do it. My rate for each additional hour is $400 and I’ll invoice you after the wedding night so you don’t have to worry about it in the moment.
What will you wear to our wedding?
My second photographer and I will dress as guests might dress for your wedding (except I’ll leave my heels at home and opt for more sensible footwear!). I often wear a dress or skirt and blouse, and in colder months may wear a pair of black dress pants instead. I’ll always wear dark or rich colors. The goal is to blend in with your guests and always to be professional so you are proud to have me there and can also forget that I’m there while you’re saying “I do” or dancing your butt off and can be fully in the moment.
What happens if it rains on our wedding day? Session day?
If it rains on your wedding day they say you’re lucky and your marriage will be blessed! But it also means we should have a rain plan in mind. I’ll work with you prior to your wedding day to create a rain plan for all of your formal portraits. And if you’re adventurous, it can be absolutely beautiful to grab a cute umbrella and get a few quick photos in the rain. After all, if it rains on your wedding day, then you are going to remember that as part of the best day of your life, so I want to tell that part of your wedding day story too. If you have your heart set on an outdoor engagement session and a storm is in the forecast, we’ll keep a close eye on the weather and we can always reschedule so you get the beautiful outdoor photos you want.
How long until I see my wedding photos?
Your photos will be ready for you 6-8 weeks after your wedding date. I’ll post a preview image for you within 48 hours of your wedding though, so you won’t have to wait 6 weeks to see how gorgeous you looked on your wedding day!
How many photos will we get? Are all of my photos edited?
Generally you will receive between 800-900 images from 8 hours coverage of your wedding day. And yes, every single photo is edited to ensure the highest quality finished product.
Can we see more? Can we have the unedited files?
All of the files in your final gallery are edited and any images that do not make it into your final gallery are either duplicates, light tests, etc. Therefore, when I curate your images, ones that do not make it into your gallery are not saved or archived.
How do you back up and preserve my wedding photos?
When I get home from your wedding I upload all of the images into two places. They go onto an external hard drive and that then automatically backs up onto the cloud. I also keep all of your images on memory cards until I deliver your final images. When your images are ready for viewing, the final edits are also uploaded into an online gallery that serves as a third backup.
Do we get the copyright to the images?
As the artist who created the images, I retain the copyright to them. However, all digital products include personal printing and reproduction rights. That means you are welcome to share them all over social media, frame prints for your grandparents, and turn your favorite image into a canvas print for your wall. The only thing limits are that you may not claim credit for the creation of the images or try to sell them for a profit. So if People magazine calls – please send them my way!
Can we order prints or albums through you?
You sure can! You will receive a link to view all of your images in an online gallery and you can purchase prints, print collections, and canvas prints right in the gallery. I work with a professional lab that provides the highest quality prints and products. You are also welcome to print on your own from wherever you like. I also offer beautiful archival heirloom albums in fine linen or genuine leather covers and gorgeous keepsake glass boxes with 5x7 prints. They’re really lovely options for honoring and enjoying your images.
You’re the photographer for us! How do we book you?!
Wonderful! I’m so happy that you want me to be there to capture your wedding day love story. Now I want to hear about you and your soulmate and learn about how you two met and fell in love. Because what is most important to me is that you are both 100% comfortable with me by your side throughout your wedding day and that you believe without a doubt that I’m the right person to tell your love story. Go to my Contact page and send me a note!
